It has been repeatedly said by OPS that Sasikala and her supporters forced him to resign as the CM of TN.
That very act constitutes a cognizable offence of criminal intimidation enumerated under section 503 of the Indian Penal Code [IPC] which reads thus:
Whoever threatens another with any injury to his person, reputation or property, or to the person or reputation of any one in whom that person is interested, with intent to cause alarm to that person, or to cause that person to do any act which he is not legally bound to do, or to omit to do any act which that person is legally entitled to do, as the means of avoiding the execution of such threat, commits criminal intimidation.
The offence is punishable under section 506 IPC. The relevant penal code reads:
Whoever commits the offence of criminal intimidation shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both.
OPS holds the post of CM. The position accords him control over the Home portfolio. As the Home Minister, it is well within the powers vested in OPS to file a simple police complaint citing commission of an offence to be dealt with under the above mentioned provisos. Further, it is the duty of any and every citizen of India that is Bharat to register such an FIR – in public interest. In the case of OPS there is public as well as personal interest.
The police would be duty bound to arrest VK Sasikala.
How many ruling party legislators would stand alongside the late Jayalalithaa’s former charwoman after the local police take her in for questioning?
That remains a moot, albeit unanswered question.
There are other queries that cry out for replies.
Obviously, Panneerselvam knows that he cannot win any election on his own. Yet, he has burnt his boats with the Sasikala faction of the AIADMK and ipso facto at least 129 legislators – as on date.
Would someone with his seniority and experience risk everything including his CM’s chair after a few minutes’ meditation at Jayalalithaa’s grave? Has OPS got some inkling about the Disproportionate Assets case verdict said to be scheduled 2 days from now?
How did OPS gather enough guts to challenge Sasikala before whom he had bent double a few days ago?
Why did OPS not speak out for 75 days when Jayalalithaa was in hospital – about his being refused permission to see her?

This event happened on Sunday. why he remained silent till Tuesday night to get an appointment with hi late Boss who is in her graveyard at Marina Beach? Your article on ‘Sasikala’s end game in sight poses lot of questions. First of all, why it took a long time to Panneerselvam to disclose the nefarious designs of Sasikala. He says he was forced, but not threatened. Why did he succumb when Sasikala said that he only proposed her name, stating that the party high command the chief minister should be the one and the same, as insisted by Thambidurai and a few others. Fine, in that respect, what prevented Sasikala camp, as Gurumurthy rightly pointed out in Thulak and Thanthi TV interview in handing over both the portfolios to Paneer. Surprisingly, Paneer did not insist on that. He was vacillating for 47 hours and it is difficult to believe that he was unaware of the last Sunday MLA meeting called by Sasikala. Moreover, Paneer took this bold decision, only after he was doubly sure that Sasikala has decided to rule the destiny of Tamil Nadu. Had Sasikala permitted him to remain in chair, I do not think, he would have revealed the Apollo Hospital mystery and he was prevented from meeting her. He wanted to create sympathy ahead of Deepa, who made a blunder by delaying her entry. It is his good luck that because of hatred towards Sasikala by the public, he could turn them towards his side. It is good, if Sasikala leaves the scene, but Paneer is needlessly comparing the present political turmoil with the scenario in October, 1972, when ADMK, not AIADMK, was born.
